Samuel M. Sackey (MGhIE) is a Professor of Manufacturing of the KwameNkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the KNUST, Ghana in 1988, a Master of Science degree in Engineering and Management of Manufacturing Systems from the Cranfield University, in the United Kingdom in 1996, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering from the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 2004. Prof Sackey worked in industry for seven years, where he served as Assistant Manager of the Tema ITTU, now GRATIS Foundation in 1989 and as the first and substantive Regional Manager of the Sunyani ITTU, now GRATIS Foundation, from 1991 to 1993. Prof. Sackey has taught many courses in universities in Ghana, USA and South Africa encompassing production engineering, manufacturing processes, engineering materials, mechanics of materials, industrial engineering, quality assurance, and other manufacturing systems related courses. In 2007, he helped train staff of the Kumasi Technical University in how to set up, program and operate Computer Numerical Control machine tools. Prof Sackey is currently the Director of the Technology Consultancy Centre, and Acting Director-General of TCC-UNESCO at the KNUST, having previously served as the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the same university.Among his several services to the national community, Prof Sackey served as a member of a committee set up by Ghana's Minister of Environment, Science,          Technology and Innovation, to draft a national legislative bill to set up a Presidential Advisory Council on Science, Technology and Innovation
