About

Patrick Feglo holds PhD degree in Clinical Microbiology. He is a Senior Lecturer and now Head of Department. His research focuses on the genetic basis of antimicrobial resistance where his laboratory uses phenotypic, molecular and genomic tools to understand molecular mechanisms of microbial resistance in human hosts. He is particularly interested in enteric bacteria and the role microbial enzymes play in the degradation of antibiotics. Prior to becoming a lecturer he was a Research Scientist who doubled as Laboratory and Quality manager at CSIR-FRI. He was a member of the 2010 cohort of University of Michigan Presidential Scholars program, where trained on molecular diagnostic procedures. He has more than twenty peer reviewed publications in international Journals after UMAPS experience. His future plans and long-term goals include developing a molecular database for antibiotic resistant enteric pathogens and to set up enteric disease molecular surveillance systems in Ghana.

Research Summary

(inferred from publications by AI)

The researcher focuses on the broad role of bacteria across different domains, including antibiotic resistance, food safety, and public health. Through diverse studies using molecular biology techniques, they investigate how bacterial infections, contamination, and microbiome dynamics impact both human health and the environment.
