Michael Osei Asibey is an Urban Development and Environmental Policy and Sustainability expert who has had his training at the Department of Planning, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Development Planning, a Master of Philosophy degree in Planning and a PhD in Planning from at the Department of Planning, KNUST. Michael's research is focused on three themes of key theoretical and applied interest: urbanisation; environmental and ecological management and sustainability; sustainable cities and urban containment; informality; climate change adaptation and resilience; and urban greenery conservation and infrastructure. Through his research and extensive collaborations, he has gained considerable experience in urban studies and socio-ecological research, and use emerging analytical methods to understand the dynamics and consequences of human activities on the natural environment and functionality of human settlements. Michael has considerable experience in both mixed methods social science research and in researching across multiple landscapes (e.g., developing countries in general, Africa and Ghana in particular) on a variety of issues (e.g., urban greenery, natural resource management, climate change, and environmental planning).He has authored over 100 research outputs/articles (see: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Michael-Asibey), most of which are in highly ranked Q1 urban planning and environmental/ecological management and development journals (i.e., impact factor >2), including Geoforum, Urban Forestry & Urban Greening, Sustainable Water Resources Management, Cities, Energy, and Land Use Policy.
