About

I grew up in a family oriented toward medical science. All my life has been geared toward becoming a medical researcher and teacher in my area of interest - biochemistry. With the support of many senior colleagues, I have acquired skills that enable me to perform my role as a lecturer and a researcher. With over 15 years of experience in academia, I have been lecturing both undergraduate and postgraduate students of BSc. Human Biology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy in specialized areas of biochemistry, clinical chemistry, immunology, and molecular biology.Having been trained with a specialization in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Ph.D.), I have had experience in the use of varied clinical chemistry analyzers (ATAC, Synchron CX9; Beckman Coulter), imunoassay systems (Access 2; Beckman Coulter, USA), hematological analyzers (Mindray, Cell Dyn, Sysmex), and different molecular biology techniques such as RT-PCR, Western blott, RFLIP, and some techniques for typing single base mutations or polymorphism. My previous employment as a medical representative and as a secretary head of a lab honed my skills as a team player and developed great organisational skills in a variety of deadline-oriented situations. I have a record of getting along well with people at all levels, easily making good working relationships. Good presentation skills, combining sound analytical research and clear verbal explanation, have stood me in good stead as a lecturer. My current research is centered on complications associated with type 2 diabetes and some aspects of malaria at the pathological and genetic levels.
