About

Dr. Kennedy Gyau Boahen is a lecturer in Clinical Microbiology at the Department of Clinical Microbiology, School of Medicine and Dentistry, KNUST Kumasi. In 2009, he obtained his BSc. in Biological Science and MPhil in Clinical Microbiology in 2015. He obtained PhD in Clinical Microbiology in 2018 with sponsorship from the Bernhard Nocht Institute, Germany. He obtained all his postgraduate education from the Dept. of Clinical Microbiology, KNUST. He has been involved in various clinical research some of which were multinational. His area of research is predominately on infectious disease epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance and emerging bacterial pathogen. He has co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles.

Research Summary

(inferred from publications by AI)

The researcher uses genetic and antimicrobial susceptibility profiling to explore how various bacterial infections affect human health in neglected regions of Ghana. Focused on antibiotic resistance, parasitic infections (especially among humans), the diversity of Staphylococcus species, vector-borne pathogens like Rickettsia and Malaria, and their impact on immunocompromised populations. The goal is to advance understanding of bacteria's roles in disease and improve treatment strategies, particularly targeting neglected regions.
