John-Paul conducts research on theories of International Institutions, Decision-making processes in International Organizations, Africa in global politics, the African Union, theories of International Relations, International and European politics and the nexus between security and Development. His most recent publications appear in Global Society, Journal of African Politics, the African Security Review, the South African Crime Quarterly and the University of Bamberg Press.
