About

Eunice Akyereko Adjei (Ing. PhD) is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and has been in academia since 2007.  She is the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for World Bank Centre of Excellence Project at KNUST Engineering Education Project (KEEP). Her interest in women in STEM has led into several activities in mentoring and as a Resource Personnel in several fora at the university community and national level.  Her activities have subsequently increase female enrolment and retention at both undergraduate as well as postgraduate level in STEM. Finally, her recent activity is mentoring female STEM students in various tertiary institutions to gain practical skills relevant for the job market in the power sector through MiDA internship program. She is an active member of OWSD, WiSTEM and WINE. Her research interest includes the following: Aerospace Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Policy, Energy Utilization, Environmental Climate Mitigation Measures, Gender Equality, and Building Performance Assessment. She has under significant research projects in Renewable Energy among them are Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunity in Ghana (GrEEN ) Project 2020-2021, 1. KNUST Research Fund (KRef)   2018-2019, Implementation of Bio-Rural Energy Scheme for Ghana funded by Global Challenges Research Funds, U.K.  (RIS 1066908) 2018-2019 and Feasibility of integration of bio-energy schemes (IBRES) for Ghana under EPSRC-funded Grant Ref EP/R512849/1, U.K. 2017-2018.

Research Summary

(inferred from publications by AI)

The researcher focuses on advancing sustainable renewable energy solutions, particularly leveraging materials from the coconut industry for biofuels. Their work integrates co-growth processes (such as rice husk and palm kernel shells) into biofuel production through biomass conversion technologies. This interdisciplinary approach emphasizes the application of eco-friendly materials in both agricultural and transportation sectors, contributing to sustainable development in renewable energy systems.
