Dr David Ben Kumah is an Educationist and Clinician Scientist, with a passion for teaching and mentoring young people. He holds a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree and MSc in Health Service Management from KNUST. Currently, he serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Optometry and Visual Science, KNUST. He has previously served as Head, Department of Optometry and Visual Science, and Vice Dean, Faculty of Biosciences, College of Science, KNUST. Dr Kumah has been involved in several collaborative research projects and medical outreaches, aimed at prevention of blindness and preservation of sight. Notably, he served as the Principal Investigator for the Refractive Error in School Children (RESC) - Ghana Study. This study was funded by the World Council of Optometry (WCO). The findings of the RESC study has been published in Optometry and Vision Science (the Journal of the American Academy of Optometry).To date, Dr Kumah has over 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications and several conference proceedings in the field of optometry, ophthalmology, and vision science. His current research interests are in the field of ocular nutrition, ophthalmic epidemiology, dry eye and occupational optometry.
