DR COLLINS KOKURO. MBCHB, DPDM (LIV), FWACPDr Collins Kokuro is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Medicine of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology. He is a Consultant Physician/Cardiologist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Department of Internal Medicine and the Head of Cardiology. He is an Executive member of the Ghana Chapter of the West African College of Physicians,  and the former Deputy Training Coordinator in Internal Medicine for the West African College of Physician- Ghana Chapter, President of the Ghanaian Society of Cardiology (GSC), having served as the Vice Presidents before this position. He is involved in the teaching of Fellows and resident medical officers, medical students and other health workers.Dr Kokuro provides services in General Internal Medicine and Cardiology in Ghana. He is an expert in both routine and ambulatory Electrocardiograhy and Echocardiography and has advance training in abdominal ultrasonography and vascular ultrasound.  He earned his BSc Human Biology and MB.ChB in Medicine from the School of Medical Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi Ghana in the year 2000 and 2004 respectively. He became a member of the West African College of Physicians in 2009 and completed the fellowship program of the college in Internal Medicine in 2013. He then did a fellowship observation in Cardiology at the University of Utah, School of Medicine, Division of cardiology. He holds a postgraduate diploma in Project Design and Management (DPDM) from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He was elected to Fellowship of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (FGCP) in 2021.Dr Kokuro was a co-investigator and associate director of the Ashanti ProCol project to improve cardiovascular health among health workers in Ghana. He is a member of the Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) project in Ghana. His main area of interest is in cardiovascular disease, hypertension and medical conditions in surgical patients.   He was a member of the Essential Vascular Care Guidelines Study Group.Dr Kokuro was a member of the written group of the Cardiovascular Disease Guidelines in Ghana (for the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Heart Initiative) and also a guideline writer for the Ghana Diabetes Guidelines.He is affiliated to the European Society of Cardiology, World Heart Federation, West African College of Physicians, International Federation of Health Promotion and Education, Ghana Medical Association and the Methodist Medical Association of Ghana. He is involved in community and volunteering work with special interest in community education of hypertension, obesity and cardiovascular diseases in general. Dr Kokuro is married with three children
