Hospital. I am also a faculty member of the Ghana College of Physician and Surgeons, Radiology Faculty for the past decade. I have participated as Co-Principal Investigator in pivotal clinical trials in Ghana. I participated as the consultant radiologist in the novel phase III RTS,S vaccine trial programme in Agogo Ghana, one of the trial site in Africa. I also served as consultant and trainer on the National tuberculosis surveillance in Ghana. I am currently the consultant radiologist for the accelerated TB detection programme from 2014 till date.  I am married with three children.   Adjunct Senior Lecturer: Department of Radiology, School of Medical Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. May 2019-date Consultant Radiologist: Directorate of Radiology Health Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi Ghana. 2016 to date Senior Specialist Radiologist: Directorate of Radiology Health Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi Ghana. 2008 to 2016 Specialist Radiologist: Directorate of Radiology Health Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi Ghana. 2006 to 2008 Head of Directorate: Radiology Directorate, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi.  January 2018 to date Head of Directorate: Diagnostic Directorate, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi.  January 2012 to 2018 Examiner: Faculty of Radiology, Ghana Postgraduate Medical College.  March 2012 to date Examiner: Faculty of Radiology, West African Postgraduate Surgical College. Lagos, Nigeria.  March 2012 to date Co-Principal Investigator: Agogo clinical trial for A Phase 3 Double-Blind Randomized, Efficacy and Safety Comparison of Prasugrel and Placebo in Paediatric Patients with Sickle Cell Disease. May 2014 to Dec 2015 Co-Principal Investigator: Agogo clinical trial for malaria vaccine with GlaxoSmithKline in Ghana. May 2009 to Dec 2014 Co-Principal Investigator: National tuberculosis surveillance for  Ghana. Nov 2010 to Dec 2014 Malaria Vaccine Trial:  A malaria vaccine is expected to become one important intervention that would complement existing interventions against the disease. The results of the Malaria Vaccine trial that was conducted in 11 trial sites across 7 African countries is currently undergoing pilot implementation in three African Countries as a recommendation by the World Health Organization I served a Co-Principal Investigator in one of the clinical trial sites that participated in the novel RTS,S malaria  vaccine trial in Africa.   National tuberculosis surveillance in Ghana: The Ghana Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey of 2013 collected information on the prevalence of tuberculosis. Smear-positive cases and inconclusive culture results were confirmed by GeneXpert MTB/RIF. The survey revealed much higher TB disease burden than previously estimated. This implies that the programme needs more effort and resources to find undiagnosed and unreported cases. The higher proportion of smear-negative and asymptomatic TB cases suggests the need to revise the existing screening and diagnostic algorithms. This has led to the roll-over of another programme called Accelerated TB detection programme which has led to equipping and training of physician to improve TB detection and patient management.  Breast Cancer research: Cancer of the breast is the most common malignancy affecting women in many parts of the world. Breast cancer incidence and mortality vary considerably by world regions. In general, the incidence is high (greater than 80 per 100,000) in developed regions of the world and low (less than 30 per 100,000). At the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi, Ghana, breast cancer forms the highest percentage of cancers (23%) in the annual cancer registry at the oncology unit for the year 2006. In Ghana, there is no established national breast screening program, but there is however increasing awareness through educational campaigns. This awareness has increased the number of women seeking medical help with symptoms of breast disease. It is therefore appropriate for physicians to make good clinical judgment to suspect breast cancer through clinical history and clinical examination to assist in early detection of the disease. The demonstration that clinical diagnosis, ultrasound and mammography can potentially predict breast cancer disease with considerable sensitivity and specificity has gone a long way to improve breast cancer diagnosis and management in my hospital. Accuracy of clinical diagnosis, mammography and ultrasonography in preoperative assessment of breast cancer Ghana Med J 2018; 52(3): 133-139. doi: 10.4314/gmj.v52i3.5.Ongoing Research SupportPrincipal Investigator                Prof Tsiri AgbenyegaDate                                             2009 to dateFunding Agency:                       Path MVI and GSKTitle:A multi-center, observer blind, participant blind, randomized, controlled, Phase III study to evaluate, in infants and children, the efficacy of the RTS,S/AS01E candidate vaccine against malaria disease caused by P. falciparum infection, across diverse malaria transmission settings in AfricaRole:        Co-Principal Investigator                           Aim: To investigate the safety and efficacy of malaria vaccine for African Children

Research Summary

(inferred from publications by AI)

The researcher's work is centered on advancing healthcare through a multidisciplinary approach in health sciences, particularly addressing global and regional challenges in West Africa and Central/Ghana. Their research spans themes such as global health and surgery (e.g., survey of magnetic resonance imaging availability), mathematical modeling for TB prevalence, technology integration in healthcare (e.g., AI for mammography and sonography), cancer treatment, and urological care. Key findings include high rates of TB-related disorders and successful surgical interventions, while their work also highlights improvements in abnormal organ detection and ultrasound capabilities.
